Contract Teachers Bill Sparks Controversy in Parliament

The bill regarding the employment of contract teachers in the Ministry of Education's support programs has sparked strong reactions in the Parliament's Education Committee. Teacher organizations OELMEK and OLTEK have complained that they were not involved in the prior consultation, despite the fact that the bill concerns education exclusively. Additionally, they expressed concerns about the non-conversion of contracts to permanent positions, the lack of a collective labor agreement, and gaps in the evaluation process. Trade unions SEK and PEO supported the promotion of the bill but requested amendments to critical points.
