Ένας κτηνοτρόφος στην Κρήτη κατέφυγε σε μια αμφιλεγόμενη πρακτική προκειμένου να προστατεύσει το κοπάδι του από τις ζωοκλοπές, βάφοντας τα πρόβατά του με κόκκινο χρώμα.
Η συγκεκριμένη τακτική εφαρμόζεται ως μέτρο αποτροπής, καθώς τα βαμμένα ζώα είναι άμεσα αναγνωρίσιμα και δυσκολότερα μπορούν να πουληθούν χωρίς να εντοπιστούν.
