Cyprus: 2,500 Electric Vehicle Grants in 2025 – Target of 85,000 Vehicles by 2030

The Ministry of Transport announced that approximately 2,500 electric vehicle grants were awarded in 2025, totaling €21.5 million, as part of the effort to promote electromobility and the green transition. Minister of Transport, Alexis Vafaedis, emphasized the importance of electromobility for reducing emissions and protecting the environment. The new grant scheme will continue until 2030, with a target of approximately 85,000 electric vehicles on Cypriot roads. Despite international uncertainties and high prices, the Ministry seeks to increase the use of electric and hybrid vehicles, while also promoting the development of public charging stations. Mr. Vafaedis stressed that the Ministry's policy focuses not only on the number of electric vehicles but also on the overall outcome for environmental protection and the green transition. The government is committed to implementing measures that will encourage the use of clean energy sources and reduce the environmental footprint. Promoting electromobility is an important part of Cyprus' strategy to address climate change and achieve the sustainability goals set at European level.
