Cyprus Committed to Addressing Energy Poverty

Cyprus is committed to addressing energy poverty, considering it an integral part of an Energy Union without exclusion. The Director-General of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Kyriakos Iordanou, expressed this commitment at the Annual Conference of the Energy Poverty Advisory Hub in Athens. The Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union has placed energy poverty at the center of a just energy transition. The Government has already implemented targeted measures to support vulnerable consumers, such as the Special Household Tariff and grant schemes for energy upgrades. In addition, a target has been set to reduce energy poverty by 10% by 2030, through the National Energy and Climate Plan.
