Cyprus' Political Footprint – President Christodoulides' Presentation to the European Parliament

The President of Cyprus will present the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency to the European Parliament, focusing on Cyprus' European responsibility as the southeasternmost end of the EU and as the only capital under occupation. The presentation comes at a time of geopolitical challenges, including threats from Trump regarding the annexation of Greenland. The President will emphasize the need for an autonomous, strong, and united Europe, with respect for international law and the sovereignty of states. The Cypriot Presidency will be based on five pillars: autonomy through security and defense, strengthening the European security architecture, transatlantic relations, maritime security, economic security, and water security. Emphasis will be placed on protecting the citizens, borders, and interests of the EU, as well as on outward-looking policies and alliances.
