Cyprus Tax Reforms 2026: Key Changes and Digital Calculation Tool

Published January 18, 2026, 10:20

The tax reform in Cyprus will be implemented from the 2026 tax year, bringing significant changes for tax residents. These include an increase in the tax-free allowance to €22,000, a restructuring of the tax brackets, and the introduction of new personal allowances for dependent children, rent, mortgage loans, energy upgrades, and electric vehicles. The obligation to submit a tax return is extended to all tax residents aged 25-70, regardless of income, as well as to those with any income. Allowances are introduced for dependent children (€1,000 for the first, €1,250 for the second, and €1,500 for each subsequent child, doubled for single-parent families), rent or mortgage interest (up to €2,000 with income criteria), and for energy upgrade expenses or the purchase of an electric vehicle (up to €1,000). In addition, a discount of up to €500 is offered for home insurance against natural disasters. Taxpayers are advised to be careful to submit their returns on time to benefit from the allowances, as well as to provide consent for income cross-checking between spouses. A digital calculation tool has been created to help citizens calculate their taxes based on the new provisions. All information and answers to frequently asked questions are available on the official website.
