A delegation from Denmark and Greenland was received at the White House as former President Donald Trump reiterated his interest in acquiring control of the large Arctic island. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and his Greenlandic counterpart Vivian Motzfeldt met with US Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, with no statements made following the meeting. Trump, via Truth Social, linked the possession of the autonomous Danish territory to the US missile defense shield project, stating Greenland is vital for the “Golden Dome” being constructed. Simultaneously, the White House posted a sketch on X, presenting Greenland with the choice between the US and China/Russia. Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen assessed that a US attack on Greenland is “unlikely,” given that both countries are NATO members. Denmark has announced the strengthening of its military presence in Greenland, conducting exercises with the participation of other NATO allies. Sweden and Norway have also announced the dispatch of officers to Greenland, at Denmark's request, highlighting the increasing military activity in the region. The main focus of Denmark is to ensure the security and stability of the Greenland region.
