EKYSY – Moving Forward for Dignified Pensions

EKYSY is launching a series of expanded meetings across Cyprus to assess its actions for 2025, plan for 2026, and primarily discuss the pressing issues faced by pensioners. The sessions are taking place amid significant economic pressure, as pensioners' incomes are eroded by rising prices, inadequate increases, and policies that undermine their dignified living. EKYSY emphasizes that collective discussion and organized action are crucial tools for defending and claiming their rights. The meetings will be held in Famagusta (January 22, 2026), Larnaca (January 29, 2026), Limassol (February 3, 2026), and Nicosia (February 4, 2026), following a gathering in Paphos on January 13, 2026. The participation of all local organizations is deemed essential for accurately documenting the real problems. Key discussion points will include pension increases, pension reform, penalties, and the 12% pension reduction. EKYSY aims to formulate a common platform for advocating for the interests of pensioners. The Secretary-General of EKYSY, Evtychios Papamichael, will attend all sessions, underscoring the organization's commitment to resolving pensioners' problems and ensuring a dignified pension.
