EKYSY: Pension Increases of Only €14–€17 per Month from 2026

Pension increases from 2026 will be limited, ranging from €14 to €17 per month, according to EKYSY. These increases will only apply to the basic part of the pension and will be calculated based on a rate of 3.38%. EKYSY points out that the supplementary part of the pension will not be increased, thus limiting the overall benefit for pensioners. The current basic pension is €529.82, while the minimum pension is €450.35 and the social pension is €429.15. According to the organization, more than 100,000 elderly people in Cyprus receive pensions ranging from €429 to €1,000 per month, amounts that are insufficient for a decent standard of living, especially under the burden of rising prices. EKYSY calls on the Government to proceed with substantial pension reform, which will ensure adequate support and increases in pensions, so that a decent standard of living is guaranteed for all pensioners. The poverty line, according to the organization, should exceed €1,000 per month for an individual and €1,500 for a two-person household.
