Encouraging Signs in Air Transport as Companies Resume Flights to Cyprus

The resumption of flights to and from Cyprus by various airlines, including EasyJet, British Airways, and Lufthansa, is considered an encouraging sign, according to the President of FSF-MED, Chrysanthos Chrysanthou. Airlines conduct risk assessments before operating flights in areas with hostilities, indicating a relative stability in the region. Although the situation remains volatile and unpredictable, Cyprus's airspace remains open, and connectivity with Europe is maintained. However, there is no connectivity with areas where military operations are taking place or with countries in the Arabian Gulf due to attacks from Iran. The resumption of flights by these companies highlights the risk assessment they undertake, considering geopolitical developments. Mr. Chrysanthou emphasized that no safety issues have been reported in the airspace for flights from Cyprus to other countries, except for some cases to Arab countries at the start of the war in Iran, where companies were instructed not to continue the flight. There is hope for an immediate end to the crisis and a return to normalcy, with the observation that air traffic remains at satisfactory levels and travelers continue to choose Cyprus as a destination.
