Farewell to Former Cypriot President George Vassiliou

The former President of the Republic of Cyprus, George Vassiliou, was laid to rest on Saturday morning at the Church of Holy Wisdom in Strovolos, attended by a large crowd, politicians, and diplomatic representatives. Speakers highlighted his significant contribution to the history of Cyprus, particularly its European path, the democratization of institutions, and the effort to resolve the Cyprus issue. They also mentioned his initiatives for social progress, such as lowering the retirement age and supporting working women, as well as his ability to communicate with people from different cultural backgrounds.
