Fidan: Turkey Supports Agreement Between Syrian Government and YPG

Turkey supports the January 18th agreement between the Syrian government and the YPG (Syrian Kurds), despite its reservations, as part of a political choice in favor of stability, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said. Ankara prioritizes the existence and implementation of the agreement, putting its objections in second place. The agreement provides for a ceasefire and the full integration of the SDF/YPG forces into Syrian state institutions, as well as the withdrawal of armed formations east of the Euphrates. Fidan emphasized the importance of the decree issued by Syrian President Ahmed al-Saraa, which contributes to the protection of the cultural and social rights of Kurdish citizens. At the same time, he expressed strong concern about the actions of the YPG regarding the release of Daesh prisoners, describing the development as a "serious security breach."
