Foot-and-Mouth Disease: 24/7 Disinfection at Checkpoints from Occupied Territories

Due to the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in the occupied territories, the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment has intensified preventative measures to protect the free areas. These include 24/7 coverage of the crossing points from the occupied territories, with mandatory disinfection of all vehicles. Furthermore, inspections at livestock farms along the ceasefire line are being stepped up, and increased communication will take place with the British Bases authorities, the Police, the army, and farmers to strengthen surveillance. Instructions will also be provided to farmers on creating disinfection areas at their farms, and efforts will be made to ensure the acceptance of halloumi shipments to Australia. Finally, a committee will be formed with representatives from the Veterinary Services and professionals in the field to continuously monitor the situation and coordinate the implementation of necessary measures.
