Το κράτος και οι κτηνιατρικές υπηρεσίες απουσιάζουν, ποτέ δεν ενημέρωσαν τους κτηνοτρόφους της περιοχής για τα μέτρα που μπορούσαν να λάβουν και ποτέ δεν τους στήριξαν, δήλωσε στην Πρωινή Έκδοση του ΑΣΤΡΑ ο αντιδήμαρχος Γερίου Νεόφυτος Παπαλαζάρου, σημειώνοντας ότι από τον αφθώδη πυρετό επηρεάζονται 80 κτηνοτροφικές μονάδες με χιλιάδες ζώα στο Γέρι.
Τόνισε ότι τα όποια μέτρα λήφθηκαν για την αποτροπή της εξάπλωσης του ιού, ήταν με πρωτοβουλία των ίδιων των κτηνοτρόφων της περιοχής και της τοπικής αρχής.
Τα μέτρα αυτά, εξήγησε, περιλάμβαναν το κλείσιμο των εισόδων και εξόδων από τη κτηνοτροφική περιοχή, τον ψεκασμό των οχημάτων στη μια είσοδο και έξοδο που λειτουργούσε, την ενίσχυση με φάρμακα των κτηνοτροφικών μονάδων.
Ερωτηθείς ο κος Παπαλαζάρου είπε ότι οι κτηνοτρόφοι είχαν παράπονα για την απουσία του κράτους και των κτηνιατρικών υπηρεσιών για να τους στηρίξει, να ενημερώσει, να δώσει φάρμακα.
Σημείωσε ότι οι κτηνοτρόφοι αναμένουν ενημέρωση καθώς έχουν πολλά ερωτήματα για τα ζητήματα που θα προκύψουν.
