France: Macron Inaugurates Construction of New Nuclear Aircraft Carrier

Emmanuel Macron will today inaugurate the construction of the new French nuclear aircraft carrier, with an operational horizon of 2038. The project, undertaken by Naval Group, will employ approximately 14,000 workers and 800 companies, with an estimated cost of 10 billion euros. The new aircraft carrier will have a displacement of 77,000 tons and will be able to carry up to 40 fighter aircraft. France and the United States are the only countries that have nuclear aircraft carriers, while the Charles de Gaulle will be decommissioned after the entry into service of the new one.
