The Archbishop of Cyprus, Georgios, has issued a written statement warning the faithful about an individual presenting themselves as “Cleric Irinaios” and engaging in fraudulent activities. According to the announcement, this person has no connection to the Church of Cyprus and is not recognized by its hierarchy. The Archbishop clarifies that “Cleric Irinaios” operates primarily in the province of Paphos, but also has a presence on social media. He emphasizes that this individual is not a member of, affiliated with, or recognized by the Orthodox Church. Any action, deed, or appearance by this person has no relation to the Church of Cyprus or any other Orthodox Church. This means that any religious ceremony or activity they perform does not have the blessing or approval of the Church. The Archbishop Georgios calls on the faithful to be particularly careful and not be misled by this individual. Specifically, he urges them not to participate in any religious act or gathering related to the self-proclaimed “Cleric Irinaios” and to report any suspicious activity to the competent Church authorities.
