Government Rejects Allegations of Wrongdoing Regarding Investments

The Government has categorically rejected any suggestion of illegal or improper activity involving its members, responding to questions regarding a video circulating on social media that raises concerns about access to the Government, funding, and investments. The response was given by the Deputy Minister to the President, Irene Piki, during a press conference on the results of the President's contacts in the United States. Ms. Piki emphasized that the Government operates in a institutional and transparent manner in attracting investments and does not believe the video affects Cyprus's image abroad. She referred to the statements of the Government Spokesman for further information. When asked whether the video would negatively affect the effort to attract investment, Ms. Piki stated that the process is transparent and the public was informed about the contacts made during the President's trip to America. The Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Nikodimos Damianos, noted that the video should not affect the effort to attract investment, which has been completely transparent from the beginning. He pointed out that the contacts in the US led to the attraction of large firms that would not be interested in opaque practices. The Government categorically rejects any suggestion of illegal activity.
