Greece: Actor Found Guilty of Rape and Two Attempted Rapes

The Athens Mixed Jury Court found an actor and acting teacher guilty of rape and two attempted rapes against two young women. The decision was reached by a majority of 4-3. The mitigating circumstance of good conduct after the act was recognized, resulting in a 4-year prison sentence with suspension and a travel ban. Earlier, the mitigating circumstance of a law-abiding life was unanimously rejected. The prosecutor had initially requested acquittal due to doubts. The complainants and the defendant's wife burst into tears immediately after the announcement of the verdict. The actor denies the charges, claiming that it is a manipulation of the #Metoo movement.
