Hilton Garden Inn Athens Changes Ownership Shortly After Launch

The Hilton Garden Inn Athens, the first Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Greece, has changed ownership just a few months after its official launch. The hotel, which was managed by LUX&EASY of Nova Constructions, was acquired by Cretan Investment Group (CIG), the investment arm of MK Hotel Collection, led by Marita Karatzis. This acquisition marks the group's first investment move in Athens, strengthening its geographical diversification. The transaction price was not disclosed, but MK Hotel Collection states it is part of a broader investment plan. The deal was structured as a sale & leaseback, meaning the operation and management of the hotel remain unchanged. MK Hotel Collection boasts a significant portfolio of hotels in Crete, including five-star resorts and branded residences. The portfolio includes Unique Blue Resort & Villas, Pnoé Breathing Life, Cicada Suites, Elios Hill, and MK Residences. The total investment in Elios Hill exceeds 40 million euros. The company also has a presence in the food and beverage sector with Cicada Seaside Experience. The expansion into Athens is a significant step for the group, which aims to strengthen its position in the Greek tourism market.
