“History remembers Leonidas and the 300, not Xerxes the mercenary” – Loizidis’ speech at the Panhellenic Police Conference

Nikos Loizidis, president of the Police Branch of the ISOTITA Trade Union, spoke at the 36th Panhellenic Conference of the Panhellenic Police Association (POASY) in Athens, representing Cypriot police officers. In his speech, he emphasized the need for boldness and resilience in pursuing the rights of police officers, pointing out that police officers are elected to represent citizens and not to be underestimated. He characterized police trade unionism as the weakest, as they are often in a difficult position. He made a historical reference, comparing police officers to the 300 Spartans and Leonidas, emphasizing that history remembers those who fight for justice and not mercenaries. During the conference, the Presidency of the Cypriot Police had meetings with representatives of the Greek government and EL.AS. The tragic number of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, both in Greece and Cyprus, was also mentioned.
