Honorary Consular Corps Prepared for Cypriot EU Presidency in 2026

The Honorary Consular Corps of Cyprus was briefed on the upcoming Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2026. The briefing, held in collaboration with the Deputy Minister for European Affairs and the Secretary-General for European Affairs, Haris Christodoulidou, highlighted the importance of the Presidency as a national opportunity for Cyprus to promote its vision and priorities within the EU and with third countries. The Corps was recognized as a vital link between Cyprus and the countries it represents, especially those without embassies on the island. Honorary Consuls are considered the first point of contact for citizens and institutions of these countries with Cyprus. The aim of the briefing was to equip members of the Corps with the necessary knowledge and tools to enhance Cyprus' visibility during the Presidency, leveraging their connections with governments, businesses, and cultural organizations abroad. The participation of the Corps members in the briefing is seen as a commitment to upgrading Cyprus' international presence. The Corps' Board of Directors expressed its gratitude to the organizers and members for their dedication to strengthening Cyprus' bilateral relations.
