Hundreds of Checks, 8 Arrests in Police Operation

Enhanced preventative police operations continue nationwide. Eight individuals were arrested during these operations. During the past night, dynamic and targeted preventative operations by the Police continued, with increased presence in key urban areas, aiming to prevent serious criminal activities, protect citizens, and maintain public order. Within the framework of these operations, the Police proceeded with the arrest of eight individuals. In Limassol, three individuals were arrested for theft and one for illegal stay in the Republic of Cyprus. In Paphos, one individual was arrested for arson and one for causing injury. Also, two individuals were arrested by members of the Larnaca ADE and the Road Traffic Prevention Unit for driving under the influence of alcohol. During the same night, 42 premises checks were also carried out, aiming to prevent and suppress violations, resulting in nine complaints regarding the operating licenses of the premises and smoking in closed spaces. Regarding the road network, over 600 checks were carried out, resulting in 179 traffic violations, while 36 individuals were found driving under the influence of alcohol. Ten vehicles were also impounded for further examination. These operations are part of a broad, ongoing, and enhanced preventative plan of the Police, with increased police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action in all provinces, aiming to prevent crime and enhance citizens' sense of security.
