Inspection Committee Visits Archaeological Museum Construction Site – Delays Reported

The Parliamentary Control Committee is conducting an on-site inspection of the construction site of the new Archaeological Museum, located opposite the House of Representatives, to assess the progress of the works and examine the observed delays. The contractor claims delays of 500 days, however, officials estimate the claims are excessive, although some requests are considered justified. The works began on January 9, 2023, and the initial completion date was July 2026. Due to the delays, completion is now expected to be extended by several months. Following the completion of the construction work, an 18-month period will follow for the completion of the museological work and the installation of the exhibits. The museum will have a total area of 30,000 sq.m. and will include exhibition spaces, temporary exhibition areas, conservation workshops, storage facilities, a restaurant, a library, and other facilities. The cost of the project amounts to €143,924,216. The inspection involves the Deputy Minister of Culture, representatives of relevant ministries, and companies involved in the project. The aim is to resolve the problems and accelerate the works for the timely delivery of the museum.
