Iran War Causes Global Supply Chaos, Expert Warns

Energy expert Charalambos Ellinas warns of a global supply chaos due to the war in Iran, resulting in a loss of approximately 10 million barrels of oil per day. According to Mr. Ellinas, this deficit cannot be covered immediately and has already caused disruption in global markets, with cascading effects on the economy. For Cyprus, he predicts significant increases in gasoline, diesel, and electricity prices. He proposes imposing a price cap, maintaining profits, gas station costs, and VAT at the same levels, allowing only the increase in fuel import costs to be passed on. He points out that the Strait of Hormuz has almost closed, restricting the movement of oil and liquefied natural gas, while countries in the Persian Gulf cannot increase their production. He estimates that the United States will begin using its strategic reserves, but the deficit remains significant, leading to high oil prices, which could reach $150-200 per barrel if the crisis continues.
