Limassol: Man Attempted to Plant Bomb, Was Found by the Victim

In Limassol, authorities have made two arrests in connection with an attempted property destruction at a premises in Zakaki. Initially, a 44-year-old man was arrested, allegedly found with a jerrycan of flammable liquid and an improvised explosive device outside a brewery. According to the report, the 44-year-old was spotted by a 28-year-old citizen, who alerted the police. The suspect managed to escape before the arrival of the patrols, but was later found hiding in bushes by the 28-year-old and other citizens. The 44-year-old was taken to the hospital with injuries. Evidence, such as the jerrycan of flammable liquid and the improvised explosive device, was found at the scene. Investigations revealed that the 44-year-old has been illegally residing in Cyprus since June 2025. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive for his actions. Following the investigation, a 36-year-old man was also arrested, based on a court warrant, and is being held in custody to facilitate investigations. The case is being investigated by the Limassol TAE.
