Military Power Balance Shifts in the Region – Cyprus Not a High-Risk Zone

The head of the Center for Strategic Studies, Aristos Aristotelous, stated that the military power balance in the region has changed qualitatively and quantitatively, mainly due to the presence of the Americans and their allies. He believes that Cyprus is not in a high-risk zone, but does not rule out unforeseen events, such as the recent drone attack on the Akrotiri base. He proposes the creation of an early warning system for the population and the strengthening of air defense. He also estimated that military reinforcements from Greece and other countries will not drastically change the power in the region, but can contribute to psychological security. He emphasized the importance of a comprehensive air defense system, combining different systems and a command and control center.
