Minister of Justice and Addiction Treatment Authority Discuss Prison Detox Program

The Minister of Justice, Kostas Fytiris, met with the Cyprus Addiction Treatment Authority to discuss the launch of a detox program within the Prisons. The meeting also focused on prevention, treatment, and social reintegration initiatives, aiming for more effective addiction management. Particular emphasis was placed on supporting individuals being released from prison, as well as strengthening cooperation for early intervention with young users and preventing addiction in schools. The Ministry of Justice announced that the discussion concerned the development of more substantial and effective interventions to address addictions. The launch of the detox program in the Prisons is considered an important step in addressing the problem of addiction in the correctional system and providing assistance to inmates facing this issue.
