Mother of Fallen Climber - 'I Told Her Theodora, Don't Go'

The mother of 31-year-old Theodora Kaplan, who lost her life with three friends in an avalanche in the Vardousia Mountains, is deeply moved by her last conversations with her daughter. The mother expressed her concern about the danger of mountain climbing, urging Theodora not to participate in the ascent to Korakas peak. However, Theodora was determined to pursue her passion, even stating that she would climb Everest and raise the flag, even at the cost of her life. The tragedy unfolded on Christmas Day, when the group of four climbers was swept away by an avalanche 200 meters before the summit. The climbers were located by the 7th EMAK, following their footprints in the snow, in a difficult area. The accident in Vardousia is considered one of the most serious mountain climbing accidents in Greece. The area is known for its danger, especially during the winter months, due to the terrain that allows no room for error even for experienced climbers. The news highlights Theodora's love for climbing and her determination to pursue her dreams, despite the risks. At the same time, it underlines the tragedy experienced by her family and the grief for the loss of a young life.
