New EU Toy Safety Regulation to Take Effect in 2026

A new EU Toy Safety Regulation will come into force on January 1st, 2026, enhancing the protection of children from harmful chemicals. The regulation bans substances that disrupt hormones, damage lungs, cause allergies, or harm organs, including PFAS and bisphenols. It also strengthens the existing ban on carcinogenic, mutagenic, and toxic substances for reproduction. All toys placed on the EU market will need to have a digital product passport with safety information, accessible via a QR code. Customs authorities will be able to check the product passport for toys sold online and imported into the EU.
