New Statement from Raisi: Iran Does Not Attack Friendly Neighboring Countries

Iranian President Masoud Raisi has made a new statement in a series of social media posts, reiterating that Tehran “has not attacked our friendly and neighboring countries” but has targeted US military bases, facilities, and infrastructure in the region. This statement follows a previous pre-recorded message in which he apologized to neighboring Gulf states and announced the approval by Iran's interim leadership council to halt attacks or missile strikes against them unless attacked by those countries. Raisi stated in his social media posts: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has always emphasized maintaining and continuing friendly relations with the governments of the region, based on good neighborliness and mutual respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity. This does not negate Iran’s inherent right to defend itself against military aggression from the United States and the Zionist regime. We will stand and resist to the death to defend our country.” He then added: “We have not attacked our friendly and neighboring countries, but we have targeted American military bases, facilities, and infrastructure in the region.”
