No New Cases of Foot-and-Mouth Disease. Pig Vaccination at the End of the Month

According to the spokesperson of the Veterinary Services, Sotiria Georgiou, there are no new cases of foot-and-mouth disease in Cyprus. Culling, vaccinations and sampling continue. The second dose of the vaccine has begun for cattle and sheep, while the first dose has been completed in a large percentage. The culling of animals in small units in Livadia and Dali is ongoing. Approximately 20,000 sheep and goats and 1200 cattle have been recorded as deceased. The situation is considered calm and the public is cooperating, while Cyprus is obliged to inform the EU about the extent of the problem.
