Oman Condemns Attacks on its Territory

The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs today condemned the attacks that took place on its territory, without any party claiming responsibility. Authorities are investigating the origin and motives of the attacks, without providing further details. Specifically, Oman announced that a worker was injured in a drone attack at the port of Salalah, resulting in the temporary suspension of operations by the Danish shipping group Maersk. Simultaneously, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard claimed to have targeted an American support vessel near the port of Salalah, however Iran assured that it respects Oman's sovereignty. Furthermore, on March 11th, unmanned aerial vehicles had already struck oil storage facilities at the port of Salalah. Iranian President Masoud Pezeskian had a telephone conversation with the Sultan of Oman, pledging to investigate the incident. These developments come at a time of increased tension in the region, with the US recently sending a new warship to the Middle East, which has provoked reactions.
