OSAK Strongly Opposes OKYpY's Request to Postpone Discussion on National Ambulance Service Bill

OSAK expresses strong opposition to OKYpY's request to postpone the discussion of the bill for the National Ambulance Service. OSAK believes that this delay is worrying, as the Service is essential to fill the gap in emergency pre-hospital care. It recalls that the ambulance service was temporarily transferred to OKYpY with a commitment to create an independent authority, which has not been implemented despite the seven years that have passed. OSAK criticizes OKYpY for the delay in promoting the creation of the Service, as well as for the way the ambulance service operates under its auspices, which is not the competent authority. It points out that OKYpY provides ambulance services to all providers, but at the same time excludes the private sector from the transport of non-emergency cases, financially burdening patients. OSAK had proposed the inclusion of the ambulance service in a Crisis Management Agency, but the government chose to create a National Ambulance Service under the Ministry of Health, a decision with which OSAK disagrees. It believes that returning the service to the Ministry is a step backwards for the health sector. Despite this, OSAK acknowledges that the creation of the Service is a positive development, as it can remove distortions and address long-standing problems in patient transport. However, it strongly opposes OKYpY's attempt to promote its own plan for the ambulance service, as it believes that the organization had enough time to submit proposals and questions whether the government agrees with this stance.
