Oscars 2026: “One Battle After Another” Crowned Best Picture

“One Battle After Another” by Paul Thomas Anderson was named Best Picture at the 98th Academy Awards ceremony, winning a total of six awards. The film, an unpredictable thriller, follows the adventures of the Left in an America struggling to reconcile with itself. Anderson, upon receiving the award, described the film as a “apology” from his generation for the world it bequeaths to its children, making a political statement. In addition to the Best Picture Oscar, Anderson also won the Oscar for Best Director. “Sinners” followed with four Oscars, while “Frankenstein” won three. Michael B. Jordan was awarded the Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of two twin gangsters rebelling against America’s racial segregation. Irish actress Jessie Buckley won the Oscar for Best Actress for her portrayal of a mother haunted by the death of her son. Amy Madigan won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the horror film “Weapons,” while Sean Penn won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for “One Battle After Another.”
