Over 300 Winter Swimmers at the 3rd International Festival of Ayia Napa

The 3rd International Festival of Winter Swimmers in Ayia Napa was a great success, bringing together over 300 winter swimmers from Cyprus and abroad. The event was co-organized by the Municipality of Ayia Napa and the Ayia Napa Winter Swimmers Club on Makronisos beach on Sunday, January 18, 2026. The festival was honored to host the Minister of Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, and the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Christos Zannettou, who also participated in the swim. Deputy Mayors and representatives of ETAP Ammochostos were also present. During the event, the oldest winter swimmer, 90-year-old Androulla Frangou, and five younger participants aged 7 to 9 were honored. Medals and plaques were also awarded to the teams and children who excelled in the sand art competition. The festival program included a speech about the sea, swimming, Tai Chi and Yoga lessons, a sand art competition, and a SUP demonstration. At the end of the event, the relief emblem of the Ayia Napa Winter Swimmers Club was unveiled.
