Packed Agenda for European Parliament Plenary in Strasbourg in January

The European Parliament will hold a high-level plenary session in Strasbourg from January 19 to 22, during the Cypriot Presidency of the EU. The agenda includes discussions on the territorial integrity of Greenland, a possible motion of censure against the European Commission, and votes on financial support for Ukraine. The program of activities of the Cypriot Presidency will also be presented. The session is expected to be politically charged, with discussions on Arctic security, climate change, and strategic competition in the region. A significant part will be taken up by legislative issues such as the legal framework for innovative companies, the availability of medicines, and the just transition to a sustainable economy. Foreign policy will be central, with discussions on the situation in Iran and Venezuela, the implementation of the CFSP and CSDP, and the response to new forms of warfare. Cases of human rights violations in various countries will also be examined. In the economic sphere, legislation on financial support for Ukraine will be voted on and issues of EU financial stability will be considered. The plenary will also include the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the accession of Spain and Portugal to the EU, with speeches by the kings of the two countries.
