Paphos Pedestrian Overpass Project Moves Forward - Budgeted for 2026

MP Chrysanthos Savvidis of DIKO announced that the construction of a pedestrian overpass on Tassos Papadopoulos Avenue in Paphos is moving forward. The project, a long-standing demand of residents, aims to improve road safety, especially for students who cross the road daily. The overpass will be promoted as an urban road project, as part of the 2nd phase of Tassos Papadopoulos Avenue. The cost of the project will be covered by 80% from the budget of the Municipality of Paphos, while the total amount has already been included in the Medium-Term Fiscal Framework 2026-2027 of the Department of Urban Planning and Housing. The overpass will be approximately three meters wide and will be fully accessible to people with mobility impairments, children, and people with disabilities, with the installation of a lift or ramp, depending on the study. Its length will exceed 24.40 meters, adapting to the width of the avenue. The project is currently in the stage of preparing the documents for the tender by the Public Works Department. Coordination and monitoring of the project will also be undertaken by the Public Works Department, which will prepare the terms and conduct the tender. Mr. Savvidis stressed that the implementation of the project is an act of responsibility towards society and especially towards children.
