Repatriation of Cypriot Antiquity from the United Kingdom

The Department of Antiquities of the Deputy Ministry of Culture announced the repatriation of a Cypriot antiquity from the United Kingdom. The antiquity, a jug of the Black-on-Red III (IV) type from the Cypro-Archaic I period (750 – 600 BC), was identified in an online auction and delivered to the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in London. The antiquity features a spherical body, cylindrical neck, and decoration with black color on a reddish background. The Department of Antiquities thanks Watsons Auctioneers and the donors for the voluntary return of the object, as well as the Cultural Section of the Cypriot High Commission for their cooperation. This successful recovery represents a significant victory in the effort to protect Cyprus's cultural heritage.
