Revelations Regarding Vasiliko Terminal: Study Reveals Arbitrariness and Deviations

A new study by the French company Technip Energies reveals serious arbitrariness and deviations in the construction of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Vasiliko. The study, prepared by the company after the collapse of the contract with the Chinese consortium, demonstrates that the tender was announced without detailed design (FEED) and that the contractor proceeded with arbitrary deviations without submitting the necessary documents. The lack of detailed design significantly affected areas such as electrical systems, control systems, and cybersecurity. The study also states that the documentation from the former contractor is incomplete, with some documents missing or available only in Greek. The findings of the study raise concerns due to the criticality of the project for Cyprus' energy security.
