Saint's Day: Who Celebrates on January 13th

The Orthodox Church commemorates today, Tuesday, January 13th, the memory of Saints Hermylus and Stratonicus the Martyrs. Saints Hermylus and Stratonicus lived during the times of persecution and were martyred for their faith in Christ. Hermylus was a deacon and was tortured, while Stratonicus, moved by his courage, declared his faith and was martyred with him. The Church honors them as symbols of faith, courage, and brotherly devotion. Also honored are the Synaxis of the Most Holy Theotokos of Mesopanagitis in Crete, Saint Maximus the Cave-Dweller, and Saint Jeremiah I, Patriarch of Constantinople. Today is part of the post-festive season of the Epiphany, reminding us of the message of enlightenment and the revelation of God. Those who bear the names Hermylus, Stratonicus, and their variations celebrate their name day today.
