Savvidis on Video: “There is Evidence and Individuals” - What He Says About X’s Assistance

The Attorney General of Cyprus, Giorgos Savvidis, confirmed today that Andreas Paschalidis has officially taken office as the Independent Criminal Investigator tasked with investigating the controversial video. The investigation will focus on the authenticity of the video, its origin, the circumstances of its production and publication, as well as the motives of those involved. Mr. Savvidis emphasized that the investigation did not begin today, but has been ongoing since the moment the video came to light. The Legal Service is working closely with the Police to cover all possible directions of the investigation, both in Cyprus and abroad. A meeting was held today, where Mr. Savvidis met with Mr. Paschalidis, the Assistant Attorney General, and the Chief of Police to agree on further actions. Mr. Paschalidis will monitor the progress of the investigation in consultation with the Police and investigators. Mr. Savvidis stated that the possibility of summoning witnesses from abroad is being considered, as well as requesting assistance from the X (formerly Twitter) platform to provide information. He also stated that there is evidence, individuals, and directions that need to be evaluated and investigated.
