Schools in Akrotiri Area to Remain Closed Until Friday Noon

Schools in the Akrotiri area will remain closed and residents will remain out of their properties until noon on Friday, according to the Mayor of Kourion, Pantelis Georgiou. This decision was taken as a precautionary measure following recent events in the area. The situation will be reassessed on Friday in order to decide whether to allow a return to normalcy. The Mayor stressed that there is calm in the Akrotiri area, however, vigilance remains high. Mr. Georgiou stated that they will be informed by the British Bases around 2 pm about the overall situation. Cooperation with the British Bases is important for the safety of the area. In addition, the Mayor clarified that today's alarm was the result of a technical error, restoring calm among residents.
