Search Continues for Second Poacher Involved in Ahleia Incident

The Cyprus Police continue their search for the second poacher involved in an incident with game wardens in the Ahleia area. The second man is alleged to have pointed a gun at the game wardens during the incident, which took place on Friday evening. The 66-year-old who was arrested after a chase was released by a Paphos District Court decision. The incident began when game wardens spotted two men shooting game with a lit flashlight in a rural area. During the check, one of the men allegedly threatened the wardens with a gun before fleeing. In the possession of the 66-year-old who was arrested, 18 freshly killed partridges were found, while at the scene of the incident, an additional partridge and flobert cartridges were discovered. The Police consider the second man to be the dangerous one, as he pointed the gun at the game wardens. Investigations are ongoing to locate and arrest him. The incident has caused public concern and highlighted the problem of poaching in Cyprus.
