Small Hope for Dams as Xeropotamos River Flows Again in Nata

A positive development was recorded in Nata on the last day of the year, as the Xeropotamos River began to flow again, albeit at a reduced intensity. The water flow, although small, carries water resources to the Asprokremmos Dam, creating cautious optimism for strengthening water reserves in Cyprus. The Asprokremmos Dam, the second largest on the island, is in a critical situation, with reserves falling below 10% of its capacity. So far, only 260,000 cubic meters of water have flowed into the dam, and a similar amount is expected in the next 24 hours. Despite the worrying data, the resumption of the flow of the Xeropotamos River reminds us of the importance of every drop of water.
