Student Grant / Application Submission Delayed - All Changes and What Interested Parties Need to Do

The Grants and Scholarships Service has announced a delay in the start of applications for state student support for the academic year 2025/2026. The delay is due to the pending vote on legislative changes in the House of Representatives. These changes include an increase in income categories by €5,000, a 10% increase in student grants for families with an annual income of up to €44,000, and the removal of income and property criteria for families with more than 5 dependents. The Service assures that sufficient time will be given to submit applications once the legislative process is completed. Interested parties are urged to prepare early for the submission of applications, which will be made exclusively by parents or legal guardians, except in exceptional cases. The announcement emphasizes the need for early preparation and the submission of the necessary supporting documents. Information regarding the application process and required documents is available on the website of the Grants and Scholarships Service. The delay in the start of application submissions was caused by waiting for the passage of legislative changes aimed at improving the criteria and benefits for students and their families.
