Taxi Strike in Cyprus Set for Tuesday

The Pan-Cypriot Confederation of Urban Taxi Drivers (POAT) is escalating its measures by announcing a 24-hour strike from 6 am on Tuesday, January 20th, to 6 am on Wednesday, January 21st. The strike was decided after a four-hour work stoppage on January 13th and due to a lack of response from relevant authorities. POAT warns that if its demands are not met, an indefinite strike will follow from Tuesday, January 27th. Taxi gathering points during the strike will be at Larnaca and Paphos airports, and in the parking area of Potamos Germasogeias in Limassol. In Larnaca, taxi drivers will gather between 7:00-8:00 am in the parking area to discuss the next steps, and at the departures area, they will block one lane of traffic. The strike aims to promote POAT's requests to the competent authorities.
