Trump Imposes 25% Tariff on Goods from Countries Trading with Iran

Former US President Donald Trump has imposed a new 25% tariff on goods imported into the US from countries that maintain trade relations with Iran. The decision, which took effect immediately, is expected to significantly impact China, India, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, countries with extensive trade with Iran. Analysts predict that Chinese tariffs will reach around 45%, making Chinese products more expensive in the US market. China has expressed strong opposition to the move, stating it will take measures to protect its interests. The imposition of the tariffs follows an increase in duties on Indian products, in response to the purchase of Russian oil. Trump has threatened similar measures against other countries buying Russian oil. The Trump administration has not provided further details on how the tariffs will be implemented, beyond the announcement on social media.
