Turkey in Talks with Chevron for Oil and Gas Exploration

Turkey is in talks with Chevron Corp for joint oil and gas exploration, according to Bloomberg citing a Turkish official. Turkish Petroleum Corp (TPAO) will collaborate with Chevron on seismic studies and drilling. This move is part of a broader effort by Ankara to boost energy production and reduce its reliance on imports. Simultaneously, it is proceeding with an agreement with Exxon Mobil Corp for joint exploration in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean. The Turkish Ministry of Energy has not commented on the information, while TPAO was unavailable for a statement. Chevron confirmed that it is continuously evaluating potential opportunities in the energy sector. TPAO is already active in various regions, such as the Black Sea, Iraq, Russia, and Somalia. The expansion of its activities and new partnerships indicate Turkey's growing ambition in the energy sector.
