UK's 'Eye-Shield' Satellite Facility Coming to Cyprus - Noctis-2 and Skynet System

The United Kingdom is investing £17.5 million in the installation of a new satellite monitoring infrastructure in Cyprus, aiming to enhance space surveillance and protect military communications. The Noctis-2 project, which includes advanced optical systems, will allow continuous monitoring of geostationary orbits, while operating remotely from RAF High Wycombe. Cyprus was chosen due to its geographical location and clear skies, while the investment strengthens its role as a strategic hub in the Eastern Mediterranean. The system will protect the Skynet satellite network and is an evolution of the previous Noctis-1 project.
