US Bombed Cocaine Production Facility in Venezuela

The United States bombed a cocaine production facility in the port of Maracaibo in western Venezuela, according to Colombian President Gustavo Petro. Former President Donald Trump confirmed a US ground strike took place in Venezuela, without providing details. Petro believes the facility belonged to the ELN rebel organization, which is involved in the production and trafficking of cocaine. The US has been putting significant pressure on Caracas, accusing President Nicolás Maduro of leading a major drug trafficking network, a claim he denies. Since the beginning of September, US armed forces have carried out around thirty airstrikes against vessels allegedly carrying narcotics, resulting in the deaths of at least 107 people.
